Winter Incursion Scenarios

Scenario 1:
Emperor’s Will (4pts) and Crusade (3pts): Dawn of War Deployment. There are always 3 Crusade Objectives placed outside of either player’s deployment zone. Emperor’s Will objectives are placed in each player’s own deployment zone.

Scenario 2:
The Scouring (4pts) and Purge the Alien (3pts): Hammer and Anvil Deployment. There are always 6 objectives for The Scouring, 2 of which must always go outside either player’s deployment zone. See scenario guidelines.

Scenario 3:
The Relic (4pts) and Big Guns Never Tire (3pts): Vanguard Strike Deployment. There are always 4 objectives for Big Guns Never Tire.

Scenario Guidelines

Each scenario is built using two book missions played simultaneously with all 3 book bonus points. Each mission is distinct, for example, Heavy Support units in Big Guns Never Tire can not take the Relic. Winning one mission earns that player its points. If a mission is tied, neither player earns the points. Any bonus points earned via Warlord traits, etc. apply to the primary mission only. For example, if your Warlord becomes a scoring unit, that will only apply to the primary mission.

In the Scouring, each player places 2 objectives in their opponent’s deployment zone and 1 outside of either player’s deployment zone following normal objective placement rules (6 total on the board for the Scouring). Each player has a 1, 2, and 3 point objective, which are revealed just before the role to seize the initiative as normal. You will end up with 2 objectives in no man’s land, and 2 in each deployment zone. Destroying fast attack choices counts for points to this mission.

In Big Guns Never Tire, each player places 2 objectives, one in their own deployment zone, the other in their opponent’s following normal objective placement rules (4 total for this objective on the table). You will end up with 2 in each deployment zone. Destroying Heavy Support choices counts for points to this mission.

Book bonus points are added to the total, not to each mission. For example, if you win the Primary mission, lose the Secondary Mission, and get First Blood, Slay the Warlord, but not Linebreaker, you would have scored 6 points total (4 for primary, 0 for secondary and 2 of the 3 book bonus points for 6 total). You will have a score sheet for each scenario that makes tallying the points very straightforward.

The Winter Equinox has past on Astranar and the Dark Eldar feel they have it firmly in their grips but reinforcements from all directions of the warp have just appeared to land reinforcements for one final push on the planet.  Will the dark eldar continue to hold the planet or will there be an usurper.  And what is so important about this planet anyways.

General Rules:

  • Valid lists: Adepta Soritas, Blood Angels,Chaos Demons, Chaos Space Marines, Dark Angels, Dark Eldar, Eldar, Grey Knights, Imperial Guard, Inquisition, Necrons, Orks, Space Marines, Space Wolves, Tau, Tyranids

  • The most current army book must be used when creating your list

  • The Warhammer 40,000 6th Edition Rules and all relevant Games Workshop Errata and FAQs will be used.

  • Each player must create a valid 1850 point army. That is the army that must be played for the entire tournament without modification. This list will use primary detachments, allied detachments, Inquisitorial detachments, and formations

  • Lords of War are not allowed.

  • Special Characters will be allowed

  • Non-GW models will be allowed but they must look appropriate.  If you are unsure please check with the TO prior to the day of event.  If this is not done there is a possibility of penalties to battle points on day of event.

  • Armies do not need to be fully painted (this is highly encourage though) but models do need to be fully assembled.

  • Building rules are in effect per the main rulebook.

  • All Fortifications are allowed, except for those equipped with d weapons. If you are placing a large Fortification, that does not fit any where on the players half and would displace a piece of terrain already on the board, move it by the minimal amount

  • Mysterious objectives are used.

  • Mysterious Terrain is not used.

  • If you roll your Warlord trait out of the BRB, you roll once and choose any trait with that number. If rolling out of a codex, generate the trait as normal.

Painting out of 15

Everyone will set their armies up for display at dinner time. At this time everyone will go around and pick their 1st, 2nd, 3rd favorite army.  1st will be worth 5 points, 2nd worth 3 points, 3rd worth 1 point. You cannot vote for yourself and can not receive votes if someone else painted your army.

There will be a judged painting checklist worth 10 points

Each line is one point.

  • All Models are fully assembled – no half complete model, tanks have all their guns and doors

  • All Models are fully primed – we don’t want to see a sea of gray and silver here

  • All models have at least 3 colours applied (not including primer) – 3 different stripes of paint do not count, needs to be actually painting primary areas of model

  • Washes and/or highlights have been used to make details standout – this needs to be done on a majority of models

  • 50 % or more of the army meets basic tabletop standard – half the army looks to be complete

  • 75% or more of the army meets basic table top standard – your army is almost complete good job buddy

  • All models are based (paint or flock) – not a standard gw black base

  • Additional base work completed (paint, grass, drybrushed) – multiple types of flock, the flock is painted, the rims of your bases are painted

  • Do all models have a uniform theme – the models look like they all are from the same army not just same race. Could be company markings, similar colour pallet, if it’s not obvious but you feel it is there then write a narrative to go with

  • You have a display board – something to put your models on when you move table to table, could be pretty and add something to your army when it is on display

Turn 3 begins in the campaign for Astranar.

Turn 2 closes with a flurry of much battle.

The necron arks ever in search of that final breaking bad episode go scout a barren field in the chaos wastes to the north. Sean’s chaos space spring the trap on the necron as they look at what turns out to be an empty vid case. The necrons did not find this out until they fought off the chaos horde and claimed the field to search for what should of been in the case.

The salamanders lacking a spaceport marched on their neighboring orks, which the salamander scouts had revealed had only a small garrison guarding a the field. Salamanders surprised the small garrison and then they had a good throw down but other end the salamanders had the day.
Meanwhile the main salamander company marched on Phils tau manufactourm near by. It was a close match but eventually Vulkan Hestan proved the better of Commander Farsite.

In their weakened state the salamanders were caught surprised when the eldar came swooping in their grav tanks and pushed the salamanders out of the recently liberated manufactourm. These same eldar were so excited about taking the tau manufactourm from the salamanders that when they crushed the fellow tau player they forgot to garrison that territory.

It turned out that the reason why the salamanders found such a light force guarding the ork field was it was a decoy. taking advantage of the rusethe Orks launched a sneak attack on the salamander command bastion, with all their forces committed to the front lines they had little but their wounded guarding their back field.

This being the same reason why the salamanders were unable to protect their own manufactourm in the mountains from a dark eldar raid.

Stu’s blood angels lead by Mephiston launched a daring assault on the necrons manufactourm and in the close confines of the factory floor the blood angels sent the necrons packing.

The dark eldar known for their raiding and not their fortifications were unable to hold back the horde of fire warriors assaulting their factories while battle suits crashed in all around them to claim the Dark Eldar manufactourm for David’s tau.
