Arrival in the Myrmidens

With the fall of the prince of Myrmidens the horns of war rang out across the old world as armies prepared for war! Diplomats travelled quickly between realms as all felt two armies were better than one. Spring weather slowed half the fleets and only those closest made it in time for the initial landing to battle for a foothold in this realm.
Vampire counts, high elves, wood elves, beast men, dwarfs, and lizardmen warbands met on the field of battle, all making and breaking promises as quickly as they could.
Some highlights or should I say low lights in this case; it must of been an overcast day as the solar engine on the back of the bastilidon struggled to channel the sun in to anything but a meager beam if that. The high elves sent their dressage court performing Calvary it seemed at first from the way they danced back and forth until everyone felt they were not a threat and one unit of silver helms reformed into a dart and drove their lances home into the heart of the necromancer leading an ever growing unit of skeletons and stomped him with their prancing ponies hooves. This unit of sleketons still managed to chase away the silver helms but with out the necromancers magic they were slow to chase, and struggled to stay together till they crumbled to dust.
One would of thought that the beast,en and wood elves were aligned with how their warbands fought together holding down one flank of the battle field. Maybe it was the dwarves were to much of a threat and proved that true with the amount of ‘Gor’ they spilt on the battlefield that day.
In the end the lizardmen proved the champions of the day with few casualties, despite a zombie conga line trying to sweep over them.
1.Stu and Ian
2. Allan and Leigh
3. Cole and Kieran
4. Lake and Larry
5. Matt and Craig(the meager lands the beast men took they were soon chased out of by the arrival of a fresh dwarven and high elf expeditionary force.
6. Land and Mike

Ties are broken on who has the highest Str of Sch (strength of schedule which is how hard your opponents were) and the goes first turn column shows how many times that player went first.

Overall I think the tournament went quiet well and it was great to have such a large turnout. I think next time I need to do the score cards a bit better to explain hows victory points vs battle points but other than that it went pretty well. it was fun to play but i was really looking forward to watching how things went and i was hoping to post results in between games so let’s hope next time. please post comments or email me at landnpearson (at) gmail.com on how i can improve things or what you enjoyed.

Winter Incursion Scenarios

Scenario 1:
Emperor’s Will (4pts) and Crusade (3pts): Dawn of War Deployment. There are always 3 Crusade Objectives placed outside of either player’s deployment zone. Emperor’s Will objectives are placed in each player’s own deployment zone.

Scenario 2:
The Scouring (4pts) and Purge the Alien (3pts): Hammer and Anvil Deployment. There are always 6 objectives for The Scouring, 2 of which must always go outside either player’s deployment zone. See scenario guidelines.

Scenario 3:
The Relic (4pts) and Big Guns Never Tire (3pts): Vanguard Strike Deployment. There are always 4 objectives for Big Guns Never Tire.

Scenario Guidelines

Each scenario is built using two book missions played simultaneously with all 3 book bonus points. Each mission is distinct, for example, Heavy Support units in Big Guns Never Tire can not take the Relic. Winning one mission earns that player its points. If a mission is tied, neither player earns the points. Any bonus points earned via Warlord traits, etc. apply to the primary mission only. For example, if your Warlord becomes a scoring unit, that will only apply to the primary mission.

In the Scouring, each player places 2 objectives in their opponent’s deployment zone and 1 outside of either player’s deployment zone following normal objective placement rules (6 total on the board for the Scouring). Each player has a 1, 2, and 3 point objective, which are revealed just before the role to seize the initiative as normal. You will end up with 2 objectives in no man’s land, and 2 in each deployment zone. Destroying fast attack choices counts for points to this mission.

In Big Guns Never Tire, each player places 2 objectives, one in their own deployment zone, the other in their opponent’s following normal objective placement rules (4 total for this objective on the table). You will end up with 2 in each deployment zone. Destroying Heavy Support choices counts for points to this mission.

Book bonus points are added to the total, not to each mission. For example, if you win the Primary mission, lose the Secondary Mission, and get First Blood, Slay the Warlord, but not Linebreaker, you would have scored 6 points total (4 for primary, 0 for secondary and 2 of the 3 book bonus points for 6 total). You will have a score sheet for each scenario that makes tallying the points very straightforward.

The Winter Equinox has past on Astranar and the Dark Eldar feel they have it firmly in their grips but reinforcements from all directions of the warp have just appeared to land reinforcements for one final push on the planet.  Will the dark eldar continue to hold the planet or will there be an usurper.  And what is so important about this planet anyways.

General Rules:

  • Valid lists: Adepta Soritas, Blood Angels,Chaos Demons, Chaos Space Marines, Dark Angels, Dark Eldar, Eldar, Grey Knights, Imperial Guard, Inquisition, Necrons, Orks, Space Marines, Space Wolves, Tau, Tyranids

  • The most current army book must be used when creating your list

  • The Warhammer 40,000 6th Edition Rules and all relevant Games Workshop Errata and FAQs will be used.

  • Each player must create a valid 1850 point army. That is the army that must be played for the entire tournament without modification. This list will use primary detachments, allied detachments, Inquisitorial detachments, and formations

  • Lords of War are not allowed.

  • Special Characters will be allowed

  • Non-GW models will be allowed but they must look appropriate.  If you are unsure please check with the TO prior to the day of event.  If this is not done there is a possibility of penalties to battle points on day of event.

  • Armies do not need to be fully painted (this is highly encourage though) but models do need to be fully assembled.

  • Building rules are in effect per the main rulebook.

  • All Fortifications are allowed, except for those equipped with d weapons. If you are placing a large Fortification, that does not fit any where on the players half and would displace a piece of terrain already on the board, move it by the minimal amount

  • Mysterious objectives are used.

  • Mysterious Terrain is not used.

  • If you roll your Warlord trait out of the BRB, you roll once and choose any trait with that number. If rolling out of a codex, generate the trait as normal.

Awards

• Best Overall- The player with the greatest total of the three other categories, tiebreaker will be based on strength of schedule

• Best General- The player with most Battle Points. Wins/loss/draw record for tiebreaker.

• Best Painted – The army with the highest painting score. number of top player choice votes for tiebreaker

• Best Sportsmanship – The player with the highest Sportsmanship score. Number of favorite opponent votes for tiebreaker

The above will be trophies and then there will be draw prizes for everybody.

Sports: out of 15

Pick your 1st and 2nd favorite game of the day these will be worth 2 and 1 points respectively. There is three points available for checkbox in the questions below

Was your Opponent on Time and Prepared to play with all needed items?

Did your Opponent Measure accurately and play at a timely pace?

Did your Opponent know his/her rules and handle rules disputes reasonably?

Painting out of 15

Everyone will set their armies up for display at dinner time. At this time everyone will go around and pick their 1st, 2nd, 3rd favorite army.  1st will be worth 5 points, 2nd worth 3 points, 3rd worth 1 point. You cannot vote for yourself and can not receive votes if someone else painted your army.

There will be a judged painting checklist worth 10 points

Each line is one point.

  • All Models are fully assembled – no half complete model, tanks have all their guns and doors

  • All Models are fully primed – we don’t want to see a sea of gray and silver here

  • All models have at least 3 colours applied (not including primer) – 3 different stripes of paint do not count, needs to be actually painting primary areas of model

  • Washes and/or highlights have been used to make details standout – this needs to be done on a majority of models

  • 50 % or more of the army meets basic tabletop standard – half the army looks to be complete

  • 75% or more of the army meets basic table top standard – your army is almost complete good job buddy

  • All models are based (paint or flock) – not a standard gw black base

  • Additional base work completed (paint, grass, drybrushed) – multiple types of flock, the flock is painted, the rims of your bases are painted

  • Do all models have a uniform theme – the models look like they all are from the same army not just same race. Could be company markings, similar colour pallet, if it’s not obvious but you feel it is there then write a narrative to go with

  • You have a display board – something to put your models on when you move table to table, could be pretty and add something to your army when it is on display

DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 31st, 2013

End of turn 3

The end of turn 3 saw a few peices of terrain shuffling hands again. Sorry for the late write up but asha ate my notes. Seriously I can post a pic if you don’t believe me.

Again this week we saw Bender ho’tep searching salamander lands for the last episode of breaking bad. This time they got what the salamanders baited them with but again an empty case. The necrons were so frustrated they claimed the lands for themselves.

Salamanders faced off against David’s tau and though they lost the battle they held on to their lands.
In a very short lived game (1 turn salamanders 2turns dark eldar) the dark eldar forces swooped in and cleared the salamanders off the board before they could start dropping in the majority of their troops. They did it so quickly that they were able to set up interceptor guns and the salamanders decided to give up the land rather than risk the heavy aa fire.

The newly landed iron fists got the jump on Phil’s tau and cleared them off of one of the peices of tau terrain.

Dark eldar faced off against the chaos space marines and captured many slaves but failed to capture the territory.

With this round we see the dark eldar on the cusp of dominating enough territory to force everyone off planet. Will there be any champions that rise up to push them back???
